Other Information

The older registers of baptism, marriage and burials for this parish are not held in the church.

Historic records of St Lawrence, Biddulph have been deposited at Staffordshire Record Office, where they are available for consultation by the public.

These include the parish registers of:

  • baptisms 1558-1902
  • marriages 1558-1900
  • burials 1558-1906

Also notable is an excellent early series of three “Parish Books” giving information about parish affairs for the period 1609-1734.

A catalogue of these records is available in
“Gateway to the Past” (http://www.archives.staffordshire.gov.uk)
– the online catalogue of the Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Archive Service.

The Archive Service’s website (http://www.staffordshire.gov.uk/archives) provides further information on planning a visit to the office to consult records, should you wish to do so.

The address of the Record Office is:

The Staffordshire Record Office
Eastgate Street
Stafford
ST16 2LZ.

Please telephone 01785 278373 for an appointment. If you wish a search to be carried out on your behalf, please write for details to the Record Office.

As an alternative to the Staffordshire Records Office, microfiche copies of the registers held there are available to view at Biddulph Library.
